Dr. Hemamalini Lakshman MA, MBA, Ph. D, driven by her deep passion for sustainable landscaping, environmental stewardship, and community well-being. With a strong practical background and having won several prizes in garden competitions , and consecutive first prizes for more than 10 years Dr. Hemamalini Lakshman established the organization with a clear mission: to improve garden management and design through education, innovation, and community engagement.
At its core, HL GENESIS Garden Concepts aims to transform the way green spaces are perceived, planned, and maintained — whether in urban neighborhoods, schools, institutions, or public parks. The organization promotes best practices in garden planning, ecological landscaping, soil health, native planting, and sustainable irrigation techniques. Through workshops, outreach programs, and partnerships, HL GENESIS Garden Concepts empowers individuals and communities to create beautiful, functional, and environmentally responsible gardens.
The former Mrs. India Universe’s vision is rooted in the belief that well-managed gardens can enrich lives, foster biodiversity, and contribute meaningfully to climate resilience. Under her leadership, HL GENESIS Garden Concepts is not only cultivating greener spaces but also growing a more informed and inspired society.

Dr. Hemamalini Lakshman, wife of Dr. Lakshman of Kannan Diagnostic Centre, Mysuru, has won the Best Outstanding Garden prize for her Farm and first prize for her Dasara Home Terrace Garden. This is the 10th consecutive year that she has bagged the first prize. Her Farm HL TRANQVILLA is well-known for its exotic rare trees.

Winner of ‘Best Terrace Garden’Dr. Hemamalini Lakshman, wife of Dr. K. Lakshman of Kannan Diagnostic Centre, Mysuru, has won the Outstanding (Best) Garden Prize in Terrace Garden category at the Dasara Garden Competition organised by Horticulture Department. This is the 8th consecutive year that the couple has won the best terrace garden prize. In addition, they have also bagged the Outstanding (Best) Farm Garden this year.

Dr. Hemamalini Lakshman is a renowned academic, social activist, and dedicated horticulturist. A gold medalist with a PhD in English Literature, she has successfully balanced her intellectual pursuits with her love for gardening and social work. Her award-winning terrace garden has been recognized by the Mysore Horticulture Department for its beauty and creativity.
HL Genesis is the culmination of Dr. Hemamalini Lakshman's passion. Her mission is to share the joy of gardening and empower others to create their own green sanctuaries. She personally oversees the curation of our unique plant collections and the development of our garden concepts, ensuring that every project is a masterpiece of nature and design.
